Viasat Inc. reported a net loss of $24.6 million on revenues of $381.8 million for its third quarter, which ended Dec. 31.

Revenues were about flat with the $380.6 million the company turned in during the same quarter one year ago. Viasat had $4.2 million of net income in the quarter.

Carlsbad-based Viasat (Nasdaq: VSAT) provides satellite communications ground equipment and services. It plans to offer commercial internet service on its new Viasat-2 satellite before the month is over.

For the nine months of the current year, Viasat reported a net loss of $47.4 million on revenues of $1.16 billion. In fiscal 2017, Viasat produced net income of $17.1 million on revenues of $1.14 billion.

Viasat reported its financial results Feb. 8, the same day it reported that it would provide in-flight internet and streaming movie service to more than 70 aircraft in the United Airlines fleet. These include at least 58 of United’s new Boeing 737MAX aircraft. Financial terms of the new contract were not disclosed.
