San Diego-based Jack in the Box and Pacifica Breeze Café of Del Mar have Dec. 17 openings slated at San Diego International Airport.

Airport officials said both restaurants will be operating in the pre-security area of Terminal 1. The eateries will be run by Virginia-based concessions operator SSP America, through licensing and other arrangements with the restaurant companies.

The restaurants will be the first airport locations for both of the local companies, with a second Jack in the Box planned for Terminal 2 East.

The eateries are among more than 30 new stores and restaurants that have opened at San Diego International over the past year, with the concessions roster now surpassing 80 businesses, as airport operators place more emphasis on locally based brands.
