San Diego-based Johnson & Jennings General Contracting recently completed construction of a theater in the San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum in Balboa Park.

A former storage room is now a 2,200-square-foot, 145-seat theater that opened to the public in August.

Carl Haines was the general contractor’s project manager and Gary Dickson was the superintendent.

Jossy + Carrier Design Group of San Diego was the interior designer. The firm’s project manager was John Pohling and Jules Wilson was the project designer.

A projection room in the back of the theater is equipped with complete audio and visual capabilities, and houses a master control linked to all of the television monitors in the museum.

Other features include stretched fabric ceiling panels to simulate boat sails, fixtures similar to stadium lighting, a custom-built wood stage and a retractable projection screen.
