Feeding San Diego has received a $50,000 grant from the Help Feed Families During the Crisis fundraiser to continue to fight hunger in response to COVID-19. Grant funds support meals for students in collaboration with local school districts. The campaign is part of Albertsons Companies Foundation’s Neighbors Community Relief Initiative.

“Many schools are experiencing unprecedented demand for nutrition assistance as the pandemic takes an economic and emotional toll on people throughout our community,” said Gavon Morris, chief philanthropy officer of Feeding San Diego. “We’re grateful that Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions and Albertsons Companies Foundation stepped up to help us meet the need.”

Distribution of shelf stable products will continue to take place at regularly scheduled distribution centers through the fall and winter months.

The Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief Initiative will also keep food banks stocked, support emergency meal distribution programs at schools, support senior centers and other programs and help families access federal food programs.
