Sony Electronics Inc., headquartered in San Diego, announced today that Sony Corporation will be making donations to several organizations in the production industry. Funding will be provided by the “Sony Global Relief Fund for COVID-19” and will be contributed globally.
In North America, those that will receive financial support include:
The Sports Video Group, an association for sports-television professionals; International Cinematographers Guild, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 600, which represents approximately 9,000 members who work in film, television and commercials; Local 667, Local 669 and Local 671 in Canada, which represents camera professionals and unit publicists who work in motion picture productions; The American Society of Cinematographers, with the purpose of advancing the art and science of cinematography; and The Canadian Society of Cinematographers, a not-for-profit that fosters the art and craft of cinematography and imaging professionals.
Sony will also invest in financial assistance for Sports Video Group Europe, IMAGO and Japan Society of Cinematographers in Japan, according to the company, as well as at a regional level to support Sony’s Imaging PRO Support program.
