Cohu Names New Board Member

Cohu Inc., the Poway-based maker of test equipment for electronics factories, has named Ritu Favre to its board of directors, increasing the number of board seats from eight to nine, effective Jan. 2.

Favre is the CEO of NEXT Biometrics ASA, a supplier of fingerprint recognition sensors based in Oslo, Norway. Favre, who has an office in Silicon Valley, previously held positions at Synaptics Inc., Freescale Semiconductor Inc. and Motorola Inc. She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Arizona State University.

Cohu (Nasdaq: COHU) announced the appointment on Dec. 18. Favre’s term on the Cohu board will expire in 2020.

“We are pleased to add Ritu to Cohu’s board of directors. She is a proven senior executive, with significant experience in the semiconductor industry. We look forward to being able to draw upon her expertise,” said James A. Donahue, chairman of the Cohu board, in a statement distributed by the company.

Cohu offers equipment that lets factories test semiconductors and printed circuit boards. It made headlines in 2018 by acquiring Massachusetts-based Xcerra Corp. in an $800 million deal.
