December 2018 was a month of giving from its 8th annual Rise & Shine Christmas Dinner to its December-long Woosley Fire donation. With a belief that it’s every business owner’s responsibility to give back to the community, owner/founder of Rise & Shine Restaurant Group, Johan Engman, spent December 2018 helping those in need.

In an effort to support charitable organizations around San Diego, including Wounded Warrior Project and Ronald McDonald House, the group hosted its annual Christmas feast for those in need from select nonprofits with food from San Diego eateries as well as dishes provided by Rise & Shine’s chefs.

The restaurant group also implemented a month-long charity at all seven Breakfast Republic locations around San Diego to help those who were impacted by the Woolsey fires. For every burrito sold, $1 was donated to the Upper Ojai Relief organization, a group that puts victims first by clearing roads and homes of trees and rubble, cutting fire breaks, salvaging priceless items from the rubble, setting up relief stations, and helping victims locate the exact goods they need via social media. Rise & Shine ended up raising more than $5,000 for the organization.
