La Jolla Playhouse has named Julia B. Foster director of development. Foster will oversee all fundraising efforts for the playhouse.
She most recently worked at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. As vice president of development, Foster oversaw a successful annual fund campaign that raised a record $10.5 million goal in fiscal 2018. She led the center’s annual concert gala to its highest net profit finish in its 44-year history. Additionally, she led a $73 million capital campaign.
Foster, a New York native, earned her bachelor’s degree in dance. In her early career she pursued modern dance, musical theater, singing and acting.
Foster’s career in arts administration included roles at Project Access, Irvine Barclay Theatre and Vail Valley Foundation in Colorado.
