Viasat Inc. signed a $10 million contract with London-based Avanti Communications Group PLC for capacity on Avanti’s HYLAS 4 satellite, launched in early May. The contract is initially for two years.

The deal, announced in late June, gives Viasat (Nasdaq: VSAT) leased capacity on one of the satellite’s steerable beams. The deal extends connectivity for Viasat’s government and military services business.

HYLAS 4 is a high-throughput satellite offering coverage across Africa and Europe.

Avanti Communications trades on the London Stock Exchange under the symbol AVN.

Viasat is based in Carlsbad.
