Junior League of San Diego Offers Training Program for Nonprofit Board Service

The Junior League of San Diego, a local chapter of an international organization of women that promotes voluntarism, is putting on a certification program for people interested in serving on boards of directors for nonprofit organizations.

Applications for the program, called Board Academy, are open through Jan. 18.

The program’s eight interactive sessions are slated to take place Jan. 22 through May 18.

Topics will include board roles and responsibilities, evaluating community impact, tips for engagement, financial policies and fiduciary duties of nonprofit organizations, and how to fundraise.

Each session will take place 6-8 p.m. at 2-1-1 San Diego in Kearny Mesa.

For those who are not Junior League members, the program costs $195 for all eight sessions or $35 per session. It is free to members.
