Huntington Ingalls Inc., parent to the Continental Maritime shipyard in Barrio Logan, received an $11.6 million order from the U.S. Navy covering work to the USS Boxer, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship.

Some 19 percent of the work will be done in San Diego, while the remainder will be done in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Work will run through December, and will cover program management, advanced planning, engineering, design, scheduling and participation in planning conference and design reviews.

The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair Gulf Coast in Pascagoula awarded the contract.
