Chula Vista RV Resort Approved

The Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners approved a new RV park on the Chula Vista Bayfront called Costa Vista RV Resort. The Port granted concept approval of the project proposed by Sun Communities, Inc. on April 10.

Sun Communities, Inc. is a real estate investment trust company based in Southfield, Michigan. The Board of Port Commissioners selected the company along with camp resort operator Northgate Resorts LLC in April 2017 to develop and operate the Costa Vista RV Resort.

“Sun Communities has demonstrated a willingness to be great partners by not only designing a project that is sure to become a premier, waterfront RV camping experience in Chula Vista, but by also including offsite improvements in the project to enhance the overall experience for all who live, work and play along the Chula Vista waterfront,” Rafael Castellanos, chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners, said in a statement.

The RV site is located at E Street and Bay Boulevard near the Living Coast Discovery Center, the Sweetwater National Wildlife Refuge, and the Bayshore Bikeway. Construction of the park may commence early summer 2018 and the park may open late 2019.

The resort will include 255 spaces for RVs, pools, a Jacuzzi, spa, treatment rooms, a sauna, a gym, a business center, a multi-purpose room, a picnic area, a playground, rock climbing, bocce ball courts, horseshoe pits, a dog walking area, a marketplace, showers, restrooms, and a laundry facility.

The Costa Vista RV Resort will be the first major new component of the 535-acre Chula Vista Bayfront redevelopment project.
