Fleet Week Gives Contractors Rare Public Exhibit

U.S. military technology will be on display at Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego Oct. 13, 14 and 15 during Fleet Week San Diego. The event promises a rare public glimpse of the products and services defense contractors provide.

One notable exhibitor will be the Navy’s BEMR Lab on Point Loma. The lab uses virtual reality and mixed reality technology to solve unique Navy problems, such as where to place equipment in an already cramped ship compartment, or when to fire a .50-caliber machine gun in a chaotic environment. (BEMR stands for Battlespace Exploitation of Mixed Reality.)

Cubic Corp. is scheduled to show off its virtual reality lessons that train sailors how to operate a ship. Also scheduled to exhibit are Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT), Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) and Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM).
