The U.S. Navy has chosen a Carlsbad company to take care of paving projects several time zones away at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The Navy awarded Carlsbad-based RQ Construction LLC a contract for paving and resurfacing projects at the base as well as incidental projects. The value of the deal is indefinite, but it could be worth as much as $45 million. Work is expected to continue through September 2022.
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida, awarded the deal, announced on Sept. 29. The office considered two proposals.
RQ must now wait for the Navy to issue individual task orders for jobs at the Cuban base.
