San Diego-based licensed apparel company Mad Engine LLC has acquired Neff Headwear from Marlin Equity Partners and the Neff Family, the company announced.
Terms of the deal were not released.
Neff is a youth-focused headwear, accessory and apparel brand known for beanies, hats, snow accessories, and whimsical, on-trend graphic T-shirts. It was founded in 2002.
Mad Engine said Shaun Neff will be joining the company as its chief creative officer.
“This is a great thing for Neff,” Shaun Neff said. “Mad Engine has a phenomenal team, they’re strong financially, and they've got superior supply chain capabilities. Most importantly, they have a deep passion for our business.”
According to Mad, Neff will operate under Mad Engine’s branded division in Orange County. The company launched this division with its March acquisition of Lifted Research Group (LRG). Mad Engine said Neff and LRG have a number of synergies, and will serve as the foundation to bring on additional brands in the future.
Mad Engine, founded in 1987 as a T-shirt supplier, has become a global wholesaler of licensed apparel of brands such as Marvel, Star Wars, Disney and Nickelodeon.
