SmartDrive Systems, whose monitoring technology is used to improve the efficiency and safety of commercial transportation, employs nearly 600 employees worldwide.
Ghanbari was previously vice president of product development for FICO. He has also worked as executive vice president of strategy and products for Vital Images, as CTO for the Ingenix division of UnitedHealth Group and as CTO for the performance marketing division of Yahoo, SmartDrive Systems said.
He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Illinois-Urbana, a master's degree in physics from Cambridge University in England and a doctorate in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), according to the company.
