Neurocrine Names Julie Cooke as Chief People Officer

Local drugmaker Neurocrine Biosciences Inc. has hired Julie Cooke to serve as part of the company’s management committee with the title chief people officer.

The position is essentially head of human resources. Cooke comes to Neurocrine from Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Research Institute, where she worked as senior vice president for human resources and was part of the executive management team. Before that, Cooke help several positions at medical device giant Life Technologies, including human resource partner to the chief operating officer, division presidents, and global function leads. Her resume also includes executive management at SGX Pharmaceuticals.

“Julie’s deep and broad experience across all aspects of human resources will be tremendously valuable as we grow and continue to expand our capabilities while remaining true to the culture that has underpinned our success,” said David-Alexandre C. Gros, president and chief operating officer at Neurocrine.

Neurocrine is a public company in San Diego with a current market cap of $4.12 billion.
