San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy recently acquired two solar projects from publicly traded energy firm First Solar Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR), the company announced July 14.

Terms of the deal struck in late June with First Solar, which is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, were not disclosed.

Energy produced by the projects, which are under construction in Nevada, will be sold to Nevada Power Co. and Sierra Pacific Power Co., subsidiaries of NV Energy Inc.

The acquisition marks EDF RE’s entry into Nevada; the company plans to build additional projects there in the future, said Ryan Pfaff, executive vice president of EDF RE.

The San Diego company has developed nine gigawatts of wind, solar, biomass and biogas projects in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
