Qualcomm Inc. said July 6 that it has gone to court to bar the importation of Apple Inc. iPhones.

In a complaint filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission, Qualcomm alleges that Apple is unlawfully importing and selling iPhones that infringe six Qualcomm patents. Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) said the patents cover key technologies that enable important features and functions in iPhones.

The San Diego company is seeking to bar imports of iPhones that use cellular baseband processors other than those supplied by Qualcomm affiliates.

Qualcomm also filed a similar suit in federal court in San Diego.

Qualcomm and Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) have been trading accusations in court since January. Apple claims Qualcomm is demanding too much in royalty payments and filed a lawsuit that seeks $1 billion.
