San Diego-based private equity firm JMI Equity has promoted Suken Vakil and Randy Guttman to general partner.
The firm, which announced the promotions Dec. 5, invests in software companies.
Vakil is based in San Diego; Guttman, who is also JMI’s chief financial officer, in Baltimore.
Vakil joined JMI in 2012 and most recently served as a principal at the firm. He has been involved in the firm's investments into Applied Systems, Arena, Avecto, Code42, Internet Brands (acquired by KKR), Intradiem and Seismic.
Prior to joining JMI, Vakil was an associate at Hellman & Friedman, and before that, an investment banker in the financial sponsors group at Morgan Stanley. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with degrees in computer science and business administration and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Guttman joined JMI in 2007. He was appointed CFO in 2013.
Prior to joining JMI, Guttman worked in the assurance and advisory business services practice of EY. He is a certified public accountant, and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in accounting and finance.
