Herman Construction Group Inc., a small business based in Escondido, recently received a $9.4 million contract modification to design and build a structure at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County.
Building 3000 is an addition to the National Reconnaissance Office facility at the sprawling base on the Pacific Ocean. The contractor is expected to wrap up work by April 2019.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers office in Los Angeles awarded the deal, announced on Aug 2.
Herman Construction and a Florida business — J.P. Donovan Inc. — are sharing a five-year, $49.5 fixed-price contract to complete design-build projects at Vandenberg; Cape Canaveral, Fla.; and Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado. The Pentagon announced the contract award on Aug. 2.
