Navy to Steer Work to Four Small Construction Firms

The U.S. Navy put four San Diego construction companies on a short list to complete for millions of dollars’ worth of projects. The work, at Navy and U.S. Marine Corps bases in California and the western United States, is specifically set aside for small businesses.

The four businesses — plus a fifth contractor from Anchorage, Alaska — will now compete for a maximum $99 million worth of work over the next five years.

The businesses are A&D GC of Santee, Barnhart-Reese Construction Inc. of San Diego, I.E. Pacific Inc. of Escondido and R.A. Burch Construction Co. Inc. of Ramona. Each won an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract and will compete for task orders.

Work will consist of new construction as well as repairs and renovations.

Thirteen businesses submitted proposals for the program through the Navy’s Electronic Commerce Online website. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest of San Diego made the awards, which the Pentagon announced on April 18.
