Thomas Lee has been named general manager of the 215-room Cape Rey Carlsbad, operators of the upcale Hilton-branded resort announced.
A statement said Lee has worked for several years in the hospitality industry, most recently as general manager of Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach. He has held several other senior-level positions with Atlanta-based Davidson Hotels & Resorts, which last month began managing Cape Rey Carlsbad.
Prior to joining Davidson, Lee served in key roles at hospitality properties in the Los Angeles area, including Sofitel, Bel Age Hotel and Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The Newport Beach native also spent a few years playing on the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) tournament circuit.
Cape Rey Carlsbad opened in 2012 at 1 Ponto Road and was originally known as Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa. The $80 million resort was developed by owner Wave Crest Oceanfront LLC of Encinitas, led by Bill Canepa.
