ViaSat Inc. has acquired Ireland-based Arconics for undisclosed terms, the company announced on Nov. 14.

Arconics makes a connected aircraft software platform. Customers include Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Philippine Airlines, Tigerair Australia and SpiceJet.

More than 30 Arconics employees, including CEO Niall O’Sullivan, will join ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT). The new employees give the Carlsbad company additional expertise in fields such as wireless in-flight entertainment, mobile applications and airline document management.

ViaSat said that it will establish a presence in Dublin in connection with the acquisition, and will continue to build its operations in Sydney.

ViaSat said the transaction is not expected to materially affect its pro-forma earnings for fiscal 2017. The company added that it has not completed a valuation analysis and has not determined the impact to ViaSat’s GAAP earnings — that is, earnings calculated using generally accepted accounting procedures.
