The U.S. Navy awarded QED Systems Inc. a one-year, $22.1 million contract modification to plan shipyard visits and maintenance periods for Navy surface ships, specifically Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.
Forty percent of the work will be done in San Diego; QED Systems has a field office in National City. The firm is based in Virginia Beach, Va., where the company will do the balance of the work.
The Defense Department awarded the contract on July 14.
The Naval Sea Systems Command of Washington, D.C. awarded the contract.
