Former Target in Chula Vista Being Converted into Multi-tenant Site

San Diego-based property owner Brixton Capital is in the midst of a renovation, expected to cost approximately $10 million, to convert a former Target store in Chula Vista into a multi-tenant retail building, according to general contractor Dempsey Construction.

A statement from San Diego-headquartered Dempsey said the project, at state Route 54 and Fourth Avenue, involves repositioning the 98,150-square-foot building and constructing two new free-standing commercial buildings in front of the former Target, totaling 12,370 square feet.

Demolition and construction at the 10-acre site will include converting the Target space into three individual retail spaces, building new individual facades and storefronts for each tenant, and completing interior shell improvements. The project is designed by Smith Consulting Architects.

The owner has not announced tenants.
