Dallas-headquartered Dave & Buster’s Inc. plans a Jan. 30 opening for its new restaurant and entertainment center at the Shoppes at Carlsbad mall. It will be the second San Diego County location for the company, which currently operates a venue in Mission Valley.
A company statement said the 40,000-square-foot Carlsbad venue, at 2501 El Camino Real Suite 140, will employ more than 275. Dave & Buster’s is among several new tenants scheduled to open in 2017 at the mall, located at 2525 El Camino Real and owned by New York-based Rouse Properties.
Dave & Buster’s serves food items including burgers and quesadillas, and the Carlsbad location will also have cocktails for adults. The venue will have hundreds of arcade video games, along with special-event spaces for private parties and corporate gatherings.
A sports bar with TVs called D&B Sports is also inside the 92 locations currently operated by Dave & Buster’s throughout North America.
Rouse officials recently announced that The Cheesecake Factory and Yard House restaurants, along with clothing retailer Zara, will also be joining the Carlsbad mall’s lineup by the end of 2017, as part of an extensive renovation of the 47-year-old property near state Route 78.
Rouse acquired the mall from Westfield Corp. for $170 million in 2015. It is currently reconfiguring the mall’s gathering and dining spaces as it brings in new full-service and fast-casual restaurants, among other tenants.
