Boston-Based Firm Acquires Torrey Pines Transportation

Torrey Pines Transportation is being acquired by Boston-based Marcou Transportation Group for undisclosed terms, the buyer announced on Oct. 5.

The local business — which offers chauffeured transportation with a fleet of sedans, SUVs, mini-coaches and Teslas — will become part of Marcou’s Dav El | BostonCoach business unit.

Scott Solombrino, president and CEO for Dav El | BostonCoach, called the acquisition “a natural extension of our current footprint in California, expanding further south to San Diego.”

Dav El | BostonCoach bills itself as the largest privately held transportation company in the world. It operates in more than 500 metropolitan markets, across six continents, with a fleet of more than 25,000 vehicles.

Torrey Pines Transportation reported revenue of $2.59 million in 2014. By achieving 47 percent growth between 2012 and 2014, the business ranked 85th on the San Diego Business Journal’s most recent list of Fastest-Growing Private Companies. The business had 40 local, full-time employees as of March 1.

Founded in 1988, Torrey Pines Transportation is a woman-owned business.
