San Diego County Credit Union Hires Michael Corpuz as Senior VP

The San Diego County Credit Union, the largest locally-owned financial institution, has named Michael Corpuz its senior vice president of business lending.

Corpuz will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for the credit union’s overall business lending program.

Corpuz’s experience spans over 30 years at numerous financial institutions. Before joining SDCCU, Corpuz served as senior vice president, business banking area manager for Citibank’s San Diego, Inland Empire and Las Vegas regions. Prior to Citibank, Michael was with Wells Fargo since 2000, including serving two years at Wachovia. His most recent position at Wells Fargo was as their senior vice president of business banking for the San Gabriel Valley region in Los Angeles. Corpuz also spent time at Southern Pacific Bank, Glendale Federal Bank and Security Pacific Bank and was a regulator with the Office of Thrift Supervision.

“Corpuz has a proven track record of elevating business lending portfolios for large financial institutions,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. Corpuz holds an MBA in finance from Chapman University and a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton. He has served as a board member for L.A. Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse and as the chairman of the school board for St. Irenaeus Parish School.

San Diego County Credit Union is San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution serving San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties. SDCCU has assets of $6.9 billion and over 284,000 customers.
