Wilson Cos. Purchases Former Chula Vista Church Site for New Homes

A buying entity that includes San Diego-based Douglas Wilson Cos. has acquired a 3.9-acre Chula Vista land parcel for $2.5 million, with plans to develop 23 entry-level, single-family homes.

A company statement said the property at 267 E. Oxford St. is the former site of Concordia Lutheran Church and school, in a single-family residential neighborhood about three miles from the Chula Vista bayfront.

Groundbreaking on a residential development called Monterey Place is scheduled to take place before year’s end, with completed homes to be delivered in the second quarter of 2016. Wilson Cos. officials said the project includes two floor plans, with homes to range from 1,708 to 1,973 square feet on 5,000-square-foot lots.

Douglas Wilson Cos. has engaged Bennion Deville Homes to handle sales and marketing.

The buying entity in the land deal was recorded as Monterey Place LLC of San Diego, and the seller was Concordia Church of Chula Vista. The church and its school have relocated to a site off Discovery Falls Drive in eastern Chula Vista.
