The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians said in early April that it will pay local government $9.5 million for road improvements. The move follows completion of the $160 million expansion of Harrah’s Resort Southern California, on the Rincon reservation near Valley Center, in 2014.

Some $8.7 million will go to the County of San Diego, and $664,000 will go to SANDAG to fund Caltrans improvements. Improvements will be made to area intersections and the Interstate 15 interchange with state Route 76. The band and the county have yet to make final decisions about specific road projects.

Harrah’s runs the hotel under contract with the Rincon band. The band added a second hotel tower, which expanded the resort to 1,065 rooms, as well as 23,000 square feet of convention space and other amenities.
