The U.S. Department of Justice has cleared The Pasha Group’s acquisition of the Hawaii trade-lane business of Horizon Lines Inc., Pasha Group said.
The clearance paves the way for an anticipated final closing before the end of the second quarter, the company said.
Upon closing, Pasha Hawaii, a wholly owned subsidiary of the family-owned global logistics company The Pasha Group — whose operations include Pasha Automotive Services–National City, a large auto import/export and processing operation at the National City Marine Terminal — will assume operations for all of Horizon’s Hawaii business, including Horizon’s four U.S. flag container ships in the Hawaii trade lane, Pasha said.
In addition to the ships, The Pasha Group said it will also acquire Horizon subsidiaries Hawaii Stevedores Inc.; the California-based operations of Sea-Logix LLC, which provides trucking and warehousing services; and Sunrise Operations, a subsidiary that will include Horizon’s vessels and Hawaii-based employees, Pasha said.
According to Pasha, in becoming part of the company, Horizon’s Hawaii business will operate alongside Pasha Hawaii’s existing operations, which include Pasha’s two Jones Act-qualified vessels, the M/V Jean Anne and the new M/V Marjorie C. By expanding its operations with Horizon’s Hawaii fleet, Pasha said it will be able to provide customers with a wider offering of scheduled shipping and logistics services for containers, refrigerated containers, and a variety of roll-on/roll-off cargoes.
“We are excited for the opportunity to welcome Horizon’s Hawaii family of employees to the Pasha team,” said George Pasha IV, president and CEO. “I am confident that the combination of our two businesses will allow us to more effectively serve our new expanded customer base.”
Pasha Hawaii offers roll-on/roll-off transport between the West Coast and Hawaii for a wide range of vehicles, yachts, heavy machinery, oversize cargo, and containers. Pasha Hawaii is an independent operating subsidiary of The Pasha Group. The Pasha Group is a family-owned, third-generation diversified global logistics and transportation company that provides supply chain management for finished and privately owned vehicles, marine terminal management and stevedoring, domestic and international relocation services, and international logistics management for general commodity and project cargoes.
