The Pentagon announced April 21 that the U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics Nassco a one-year, $24.2 million contract to sustain Littoral Combat Ships in the port of San Diego. The deal applies to both Freedom- and Independence-class ships that have San Diego home ports, as well as those Littoral Combat Ships that are visiting the port.

The sustainment execution contract has two options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the deal to $96.3 million.

The Naval Sea Systems Command of Washington, D.C. awarded the contract. General Dyanimcs (NYSE: GD) Nassco was one of two bidders.
