The South County Economic Development Council, the nonprofit business advocacy organization for the South Bay, hosts its 24th annual economic summit Oct. 10 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Keynote speakers for the summit are Linden Blue, vice chairman of General Atomics, and John Reilly, park president of SeaWorld San Diego. A special guest speaker is Mike Dee, CEO of the San Diego Padres.

Elected officials slated to speak on a panel are State Sen. Ben Hueso; State Assembly members Lorena Gonzalez and Shirley Weber; Mayors Ron Morrison of National City and Jim Janney of Imperial Beach; Port Commissioners Bob Nelson and Dukie Valderama; San Diego Councilman David Alvarez, and Chula Vista Councilwoman Pamela Bensoussan.

Panelists discussing the region’s economy include Mark Cafferty, CEO of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp.; Kelly Cunningham, economist with the National University System Institute for Policy Research; and James Gerber, economics professor at San Diego State University.
