The folks at Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP must ascribe to Machiavelli’s prescript, “It is better to be feared than loved.”

The San Diego-based law firm that specializes in securities litigation was selected as one of the “Most Feared Firms in Litigation” by BTI Consulting, according to Robbins Geller.

The selection was based on interviews with “upwards of 300 general counsel and in-house litigation counsel at top-spending organizations,” according to the firm, which has 200 lawyers in 10 offices. They have 133 attorneys in San Diego.

Darren Robbins, partner in the firm, called the selection “a tremendous honor.”

“Institutional investors seek us out because we bring to bear the substantial financial and human resources required to optimize results for our clients,” he said.

Among the biggest wins for the firm was a year ago when it successfully represented investors in a $2.46 billion judgment against Household International.
