SeaPort Airlines plans to begin non-stop service between San Diego and San Felipe, in the Mexico state of Baja California, on Dec. 15.
Officials of the Portland, Oregon-based carrier said the flights from San Diego International Airport are part of the first international services for SeaPort. The new route will initially operate four times weekly on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, using nine-passenger Cessna Caravan aircraft making one round-trip flight per day.
The new offerings will also allow travelers flying to and from Burbank Bob Hope Airport to access San Felipe, using San Diego as a connection.
“A San Felipe route has been in extremely high demand,” said SeaPort Airlines President Rob McKinney, in a statement. Schedule and other information is at SeaPortAirlines.com.
San Felipe is on the eastern coastal side of the Baja California peninsula, 130 miles south of Mexicali and typically a four-hour road trip from San Diego, airline officials said.
SeaPort Airlines last month began nonstop flights between San Diego International and Burbank Bob Hope Airport.
