TakeLessons, which runs an online marketplace for people wanting to improve skills in a variety of fields, said that it received $7 million in funding.
The addition brings total funding to $20 million.
A new investor, Lightbank, led the latest round. Existing investors Crosslink Capital, SoftTech VC and Triangle Peak Partners also participated, as did new investor Moore Venture Partners.
TakeLessons said it will use the new money to fund growth. The business plans to add foreign languages to its offerings on www.takelessons.com, expand into new cities, and improve its proprietary software. TakeLessons recently opened new offices in downtown San Diego and acquired Betterfly, a similar online education site.
