EcoATM, the San Diego-based operator of kiosks that exchange unwanted electronic devices for cash, has entered into a partnership with former San Diego Chief of Police William Landsdowne, the company said.

Landsdowne, who was the city’s police chief for 11 years before retiring this year, will help the company build and strengthen relationships with law enforcement agencies across the nation, the company said.

Landsdowne said he was impressed with ecoATM’s strong commitment to consumer safety and law enforcement cooperation, and will use his experience to work even more effectively with law enforcement and public officials.

The company was acquired by Bellevue, Washington-based Outerwall Inc., formerly Coinstar, for $350 million last year.
