Area real estate developer Conrad Prebys has given $25 million to the Salk Institute for Biological Studies to support its wide range of medical research. The gift is the single largest to the Salk Institute’s endowment, the center said.

The Salk Institute auditorium will be renamed the Conrad T. Prebys Auditorium.

Prebys described the work at Salk as “vital” to conquering disease.

“We need this foundational science to lay the underpinnings for new therapies and cures,” he said. “I’m honored to play a role in supporting this important research.”
