Local Hotels Make Five-Star Grade in Forbes Travel Guide

Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Rancho Santa Fe was recently among U.S. hotels garnering five stars in the 2014 edition of Forbes Travel Guide.

The 45-acre property completed a $30 million renovation in 2012, including updates of its 49 guest casitas and private residences, with the opening of two new restaurants and a yoga pavilion. The property’s tennis facilities and pro shop will be relaunched this spring, resort representatives said.

Rancho Valencia was among 17 hotels in California and 97 globally garnering five stars, including The Grand Del Mar in Carmel Valley. The Forbes guide also gave a five-star rating to the Grand Del Mar’s restaurant, Addison, as well as its spa.

Four stars were awarded to The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, its spa and on-site restaurant, A.R. Valentien, according to the list released by Forbes Travel Guide.
