Irene Stillings, recently retired executive director of the California Center for Sustainable Energy, has joined the board of directors of the Sustainable Surplus Exchange.
Stillings brings more than 30 years of experience in sustainability, energy initiatives and environmental education to the post, according to Sustainable Surplus Exchange.
During her 10 years of leadership, she grew the Center for Sustainable Energy from 7 to 90 employees and broadened the group’s focus to include renewable and alternative energy, and climate change, according to the SSE.
Stillings is the president of the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce-San Diego.
“We are thrilled to have Irene join our team,” SSE Executive Director Sue Prelozni said.
In addition to her experience in the energy industries, Stillings brings a broad base of board experience to the SSE. She has worked with numerous nonprofits, including ACORE, the city of San Diego Sustainable Energy Advisory Board, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce policy committee and the San Diego Zoological Society.
