Fashion retailer H&M plans to open its newest local store this fall at the Parkway Plaza mall in El Cajon. It will be the sixth San Diego County store for the Sweden-based company, also known as Hennes & Mauritz.

A company statement said the 20,000-square-foot El Cajon store will have clothing and accessories for ladies and men, including young adults. An exact opening date was not disclosed.

Headquartered in Stockholm, H&M operates more than 3,000 stores globally, including 331 in the United States.

Parkway Plaza mall is at 415 Parkway Plaza in El Cajon. The property was among seven U.S. regional malls purchased last year by an affiliate of Connecticut-based Starwood Capital Group, in a $1.6 billion deal.

Sydney-based Westfield Group, the prior owner, retained a 10 percent equity stake in the properties.
