Pulse Electronics Corp., a San Diego based maker of electronic components, reported second quarter net sales of $93.6 million, up 6 percent from the prior year’s second quarter.

Operating profit was $1.7 million, compared with $1.6 million for the like quarter of last year.

CEO Alan Benjamin said shipments in key network and power product lines were strong following higher order rates and higher demand in smartphone programs which increased sales in the company’s wireless segment.

In the third quarter, Benjamin said demand in the company’s business segments should continue at levels in line with the second quarter.
