Sempra Acquires a Nebraska Wind ProjectFriday, September 27, 2013
Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, part of San Diego-based Sempra Energy, acquired, and will develop, the Broken Bow 2 wind project in Nebraska.
The Sempra unit said it also struck an agreement to purchase 42 wind turbines to power the Nebraska wind farm that will generate 75 megawatts, or enough power for about 30,000 homes. The project is expected to employ about 300 workers during peak construction and begin operation by late 2014. All of the power output has been sold to the Nebraska Public Power District through a 25-year contract.
Once the project is operational, U.S. Gas & Power will have joint venture projects totaling more than 1,000 megawatts, the company said.
