Biocom to Help Host International Biotech Summit

San Diego-based Biocom is joining with the Biotechnology Industry Organization, an international trade group, to facilitate the 2013 Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy.

The summit, which will feature platforms for creating better and more efficient renewable chemicals for broader applications, is scheduled for Dec. 8-11 at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter.

The summit will include a track of breakout sessions on renewable chemicals platforms and a diverse set of industry panelists highlighting comparisons between the uses of conventional versus modern platforms for producing such chemicals. There will be presentations on novel renewable chemicals and consumer products, including innovative processes to commercialize them. Also, the summit will present discussions arguing for the inclusion of bio-based consumer products in the oleochemical value chain.
