Datron’s Art Barter to Be Honored with College’s Comet AwardThursday, October 24, 2013
Art Barter of Datron World Communications will be the guest of honor during the Palomar College black tie gala set for Nov. 16 at the La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad.
The evening, presented by the Palomar College President’s Associates, benefits programs for Palomar College students.
Barter, the owner and chairman of defense electronics firm Datron, will receive the Comet Award in recognition of his leadership and philanthropic work. The executive’s approach to leadership is called servant leadership. “It requires leaders to think more about others than themselves,” said Barter. The executive is also CEO of the Servant Leadership Institute, a training resource center in Carlsbad.
The Palomar College gala begins at 6 p.m. and includes silent and live auctions, dinner, student entertainment, casino games and dancing. Comedian Russ T. Nailz will serve as master of ceremonies.
