San Diego-based real estate services provider Douglas Wilson Cos. has moved its downtown headquarters to an office building that it owns and manages at 1620 Fifth Ave., Suite 400.

The company started in 1989 and was previously located at 450 B St.

Officials said the new 10,000-square-foot office at Fifth Avenue includes flexible event space for company-hosted networking functions. The company plans to add high-visibility signs to the top of the building, which fronts Interstate 5.

The relocation is part of a repositioning strategy for the property, which has had 19 leases signed since October 2011 and is currently 82 percent occupied. The company is in talks with other tenants to fill an additional 7,500 square feet in the building, representing 10 percent of space.

Led by Chairman and CEO Douglas P. Wilson, the company provides resolution services to nationwide clients related to problem real estate, including courts, financial institutions and property owners. The company also has offices in Las Vegas, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and to date has handled assets valued at more than $15 billion.
