The San Diego Venture Group, a local nonprofit group of venture capitalists and technology executives, reminds entrepreneurs that the deadline for this year’s PitchFest is Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
A panel of venture capital judges will pick 10 semifinalists from all the applications, and from that field narrow the finalists to three.
On Dec. 12, the three finalists make their pitches about their business before a group of about 400 who will determine the winners, said the SDVG.
Each finalist entrepreneur gets at least $2,500, and the first place winner will be awarded about $20,000 in cash and services.
To be eligible for the competition, a business must not have raised more than $2 million in capital and/or received $3 million in grant funding. There is no restriction on the industries that the companies operate in.
Recent PitchFest winners include ecoATM, Takelessons.com, and SwoopThat/Hub.edu.
