San Diego’s median priced single family detached house was $486,500 in September, up by a percent from August, and 20 percent higher than September 2012, according to the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.
For attached condos, the median price last month was $305,000, down $5,000 from August, but up 27 percent from one year ago, SDAR said.
Home sales fell 20 percent in September, and nearly 8 percent from a year ago. About 7,000 houses and condos were on the market, which was the most during the past year and a half, the association said.
Linda Lee, SDAR’s president, said after the summer months, there is a typical drop in sales. “The market has room for more homes but these new inventory figures are really nice to see, especially for buyers,” Lee said.
The areas recording the most sales last month were Oceanside, 51; Fallbrook, 44; and two areas of Rancho Bernardo, one with 43 and the other with 42; as well as Poway, with 42.
The most expensive house sold last month was a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom house in La Jolla that sold for $18.5 million.
