Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Donuts has signed agreements with franchisees to open 27 new restaurants in Southern California, including one at downtown San Diego’s Embassy Suites San Diego Bay hotel.

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, owner of the hotel at 601 Pacific Highway, has signed a franchising agreement to open a combination Dunkin’ Donuts / Baskin-Robbins ice cream unit on the premises, expected to debut next year, a company spokeswoman said

It is the only new location announced for San Diego County. The local region’s only current Dunkin’ Donuts is at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton near Oceanside.

Parent company Dunkin’ Brands has recently been recruiting new California franchisees, after not having a presence in the state for several years.

The company said it has signed a multistore development agreement with existing franchisees Harry and Parag Patel to open 18 new stand-alone restaurants in northern Orange County and the central Inland Empire, including Riverside and San Bernardino counties. New franchisees Jeff Shady and Jordon DiBiase will develop eight stand-alone restaurants in the northern Inland Empire.

The first of those restaurants are set to open in 2015.
